About ten years have passed since Omoidegusa: The Memoirs of Dai Terabe was published in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Anjo Gakuen Educational Foundation. During that time, many educators and general staff have enjoyed reading this autobiography. The amount of interest can be explained by the fact that the autobiography didn’t merely show the development of the basic educational philosophy of establishing Anjo Gakuen Educational Foundation, but also expressed a pioneer, Dai Terabe’s memories, feelings, and struggles. Our founder was almost eighty years old when she began to tell her story, so we can surmise that she had already come to terms with any praise or blame and was satisfied with her achievements. Some parts of her story may seem puzzling and the line between fact and thought is sometimes blurred. So, we have decided to re-publish this autobiography with some revisions while trying to remain true to the founder’s philosophy. We hope that this autobiography will be adopted as a “motto” of sorts by the students of Anjo Gakuen Educational Foundation.

Still, we are grateful for the helping hands of Mr. Masahiro Hayashi, Mr. Yuki Iwai, and Mr. Kazuo Kawamura, among others, for their work in the revision of this autobiography and for Mr. Kōichirō Maseki for its binding.
